I’m an anthropologist, sometimes I occupy things & such.

I see anarchism as something you do not an identity...

...so don’t call me the anarchist anthropologist

now that ethnic cleansing is happening in Afrin, let us all remember @jricole, who did his best to deceive liberals about what was going on so that Erdogan could get away with it – Cole is a consistent supporter of war crimes against Kurdish civilians https://t.co/dGCiiZQ38n

March against Erdogan’s genocidal ethnic cleansing campaign in Afrin, carriednout with British & German weapons #bringannahome #ceasefireforafrin https://t.co/unUEDs0DNJ

March for Afrin and Anna Campbell – British weapons killed a British citizen fighting genocidal fascists https://t.co/zeJ8iREpbq

Ok nice seat facing forward no one next to me and I have complementary champagne and spicy nuts. This is much better. #thanksflorence

So how is my face now the background screen for the College de France? @cdf1530 does this mean they have to give me a job now?

First time I’ve ever gone business class on the Eurostar – or any train tbh. I’m still backward with no window & a guy blocking my way to the aisle, internet doesn’t work (all unlike the economy tickets I booked myself last time) but yeah some guy gave me a hot towel.

I’m not a religious person, but surely atheists have better arguments than this! If so, why can brains make computers but computers can’t make brains? https://t.co/ga90FUBz7Y

I wonder if the German public is aware that only 73 years since Hitler’s defeat, German tanks are only again being used, with German government support, to commit acts of genocide #BreakSilenceOnAfrin

wow things are so bad even notorious racist Robin Yassin-Kassab thinks maybe Turkish mercenary jihadis went a little over the line https://t.co/VVMjwSpANi

this genocide is tacitly backed by Germany & UK that supply advanced weapons to the genocidal forces because they have promised to use the land ethnically cleansed to house refugees that might otherwise come to Europe https://t.co/QAJLet5BcF

If genocide occurs in Afrin it can be laid directly at the feet of the German & other European govts who … https://t.co/osRHfB3qXs

I actually wanted to title this “the revolt of the caring classes” and the talk will not primarily be about bullshit jobs https://t.co/tSa6NSUJ5I

Ok this is scary: if you go to the College de France web page there’s a picture of me on it. Man I have to make sure this paper is a good one. https://t.co/DycWMZ2qy2

these seem like a reasonable minimal set of demands. When do we nail them to the UUK wall? https://t.co/wh8rDh3LpZ

Just in case the reason we don’t seem to ever be visited by time travelers is because it’s impossible to get informed consent from someone in the past: I hereby consent to be visited by time travelers from the future.

So far, awful day. Keys loose on MacBook spent most of 2 days waiting for “Genius Bar” in Covent Garden – being reassured no no they won’t just instantly say you have to give it up 7-10 days. But that’s what they instantly did. Didn’t even touch the machine.

pretty much every news article I read on this didn’t mention that the victims were all Black & Latino until 2/3 of the way through. So why exactly isn’t being described as “racial terrorism”? What else would it be? https://t.co/cAAtWdZfRl

worst columnist on earth Thomas Friedman praised Saudi “Arab spring from above” as much better than foolish bottom-up uprisings. Is he suggesting Occupy movement too should kidnap & torture people to death? https://t.co/y9mNgF3l9x

okay I’d say this is doing pretty well for a book that won’t exist for two more months even #bullshitjobs https://t.co/wM5SkjvDRY

So I just had an interesting thought. So that made me stop & try to understand the pattern of thinking that made it possible, but that was too meta or proximal I guess so I went blank & now I’m just staring at the wall of a coffee shop & randomly tweeting

40 minutes to finish preparing for UCL anthro occupation teach-in on Critical Realism with Gary Hawke – yup got my depth ontology: but can I explain the difference of the empirical, actual, and real? Oh my

sure you can find specific studies aplenty that challenge this in specific instances but that was exactly our point: the results of research on the micro-level is not being integrated into our macro-view of history.

I would challenge anyone to find us a single broad account of human history that disagrees w all 3 statements: 1. foragers lived in tiny bands, 2. agriculture introduced stratification by property, 3. cities meant the emergence of states and social class.
