@simongrantzero @comradeyoza @ChicoChavezNZ @inside_lemon in the past there have been exceptions, but to my knowledge only (in the case of Bell Labs & the laser) when corporate tax rates were extremely high & companies could write off basic research against them, meaning they were indirectly subsidised to do it
