@leftymathprof you are addressing precisely the issues I excluded. I said I’m assuming art, music, knowledge, exists for its own sake. Even if it weren’t useful at all, it doesn’t have to justify its own existence. I am talking about institutions that exist ONLY for the sake of supposed utility
