@dreamysleeper @pfeil @kate_manne this seems the only way to explain this reaction (by a small # of Americans) to the piece: there’s simply no way one can read it & come out more inclined to support rape culture rather than less. So why would anyone be outraged at using momentary surprise as a rhetorical device?
