@LindsayPB well the raid 2 blocks from my flat Tuesday night, I counted at c.12 cops w automatic weapons. And it seemed to be for an ordinary drug raid (rastas hang out in the next-door park & do drum circles). How many cops carrying machine guns are there on the loose on any given day?

RT @robynynyn: @davidgraeber That reminds me of something 🤔 https://t.co/i4z45i8knK

@LittleWhiteTab @JosephCoward never had a bad trip in my life. Always learned something that seemed important at the time. But one day I just had this very powerful feeling “that’s enough”, a sudden knowledge that I’d learned what I needed to learn from it, & have had no desire to do acid ever since

@duhduhduh_d no if I’d started drinking enormous amounts of beer, and then moved to cognac, I suppose a case could be made. But I just never liked beer & used to be mostly a teetotaler.

@james_e_baldwin oh they are from entirely different planets. I’d recommend one shot of Laphroaig just to see.

@robynynyn exactly, I need to find the spot where I’m slightly happy and buzzed but can still operate heavy machinery (as it were). They say that a person who is just 3% drunk is actually better at solving problems, but after that you get worse at it very rapidly

@BrianGallaghe17 granted it is an unusual thing to talk about such things on twitter but it is my way of procrastinating from two writing projects and one recording I’m supposed to be doing this afternoon

@BrianGallaghe17 I’m just thinking aloud. My dad became an alcoholic & made my mom’s wife miserable for twenty years. Then he got motor neurone disease and drank himself to death which wasn’t entirely irrational in retrospect. So it’s a reasonable thing for me to be worried about such things.

@HandleOfRy I had a friend who was trying to break a cocaine habit who decided to become a tea maven but iirc it didn’t really work. Tea doesn’t move me. I mean it’s okay, when others make some I usually share a cup, but I never seek it out.

@alraven3 yeah I’ve been wondering too. I’m from a working class background but a lot of my tastes are aristocratic. I just can’t abide all those people in the middle, especially high middle. Hence my passionate dislike for the PMCs, which I’m supposed to be a member of now

On a positive note, I still don’t enjoy being drunk. People tell me I’m a pretty happy drunk, but the physical feeling annoys me. It’s like I’ve poisoned myself for no particular reason. So between the high cost of liquor I don’t hate & that, I think I’m safe from any danger

all my life, I basically didn’t drink. Thought I disliked alcohol. I am slowly realising, no, I just don’t like beer, wine, & most mixed drinks. I rather enjoy cognac, single malt scotch, & absinthe. So: I had expense taste & most of my life I was way too poor to even find out

@RaspaPLUSdevi well the scary thing is perhaps this sort of massive military-style raid is now so common that it’s not considered news.

only guy I saw being led off in cuffs was, predictably, Afro-Caribbean. Why the weird overkill? It obviously wasn’t terror-related, presumably was just harmless neighbourhood weed suppliers? But it had the feel of a racist counter-attack under current political circumstances.

is the UK police state becoming more aggressive? Two days ago there were a dozen cops with automatic weapons, besieging a flat on Cambridge Gardens, right near me. Two helicopters, closed roads. Never saw a word on the news https://t.co/gbCeooJUmt
