I’m an anthropologist, sometimes I occupy things & such.

I see anarchism as something you do not an identity...

...so don’t call me the anarchist anthropologist

for this reason many have proposed OPERATION GRANNY: young people urgently need to call their grandparents, & ask them either to pledge them their vote, at least for this one crucial climate election, or at least, vote for the candidate who takes climate issues most seriously 2/

in 40 years, 16-17 year olds will be my age, but those of my generation and above will probably be dead. It’s unfair that those young people cannot vote even though decisions are being made in the next 5 years which will affect the rest of their lives, likely, irreversibly. 1/

so here is Boris Johnson, himself, in his own voice, saying he believes Jewish “oligarchs” control the media & use their power to manipulate & falsify opinion in their interests. This is explicit #antisemitism.

these are passages from Boris Johnson’s novel “72 Virgins” – as we see the character’s claim in the first quote that the media is run by a “Jewish cabal” who manipulate voting and statistics seems to be confirmed as the author’s own view in the second quote #antisemitism https://t.co/hL4jYSZ8Lv

wow I wonder if any of those people actually were ever nurses and how much they paid them… https://t.co/4WprJXOpRc

what’s the theory out there? They have him on drugs like they did at one point for Yeltsin? https://t.co/wmtvITVke3

Just saw a few minutes of BBC News. What’s going on? Not only did they 1. cover the hospital story well, they 2. accurately reported Corbyn’s response 3. Actually showed the crowd at the rally he was at (far as eye could see.) Huh? Do their internal polls indicate Labour victory?

all right, so from now on shall we always refer to him as Alexander Boris de Pfeffel? I mean that is his actual name.

the fascinating thing about BoJo is he’s not just incapable of empathy, he gets angry at the very idea he should have to pretend to care about human beings – even when running for public office where such pretence is a basic part of the job description https://t.co/FBkeAPNoun

if we assume they are off by 3 points, which is not unlikely, that’s a dead tie. https://t.co/uXzHqlkxeG

but BoJo really isn’t a decent person, and doesn’t even seriously pretend to be. I find it hard to believe that, despite the hysterical concatenation of the press, they’re really going to put him in charge of the country. 5/

the British public has shown itself quite open to conservatism, but historically, has tended to draw the line at fascism of any sort. They can be masochists but don’t really see themselves as sadists. They like to be able to tell themselves they’re ultimately decent people. 4/

the appeal seems to be, “sure I’m a bigot & liar, but at least I’m honest about THAT… or, well, no actually, I’m not honest about that either, but I might as well be, since I hardly make much effort to disguise it.” 3/

Faced with Corbyn, a man of almost unique integrity, at least among politicians, the establishment found put forward his dialectical opposite: a pathological liar & bigot, narcissistic egomaniac with no discernible principles of any kind 2/

what’s about to happen next week could be seen as a test of the fundamental decency of the British public. The idea of “rightwing populism” (21st century fascism) is that you know the Leader is lying, but don’t care, because you want to be part of the winning team 1/

as a result, we have a PM who is both overtly elitist & overtly racist. The problem for those who oppose the order he represents: how to treat racism & elitism as equal evils. And do it seriously. Not just say it. Though saying it is a start! 3/

Remainers are perfectly right to say Leave gives voice to overt racists & legitimates previous taboo racist positions. Leavers are equally right to say Remain gives voice to overt elitists and legitimates elitist positions: i.e., that working class folk are stupid louts. 2/

Brexit was a scheme engineered to create hatred & division. The genius is it brings out the worst in both camps, so that both sides end up fling insults at each other which are to a certain degree, correct. 1/

Actually I think if everyone in the country gets to see this video the election’s over. (They do use me as a talking head way too frequently) #greatnhsheist. Let’s just make sure everyone actually gets to see it. https://t.co/O4jpNWry8D

the Guardian is not a left-of-centre paper, it’s a centre-right paper trying to masquerade as left to try to redefine the political spectrum to convince us that the only viable positions in the world are Macronism or Donalf Trump.

I can’t tell you how many people I know (some quite prominent celebrities) who have tried to send a column or letter to the Guardian defending Labour from its attacks or just expressing support things & have been instantly rejected #dumptheguardian

maybe we need to get a document going of left intellectuals pledging that unless the Guardian changes its aggressive anti-Labour editorial policy instantly, we will never write for or engage with them again.

intentional racist dogwhistle. This is just BoJo’s pubic version of Trump’s famous line “why do we have to have immigrants from shithole countries in Africa. Why can’t we have more immigrants from places like Norway?” https://t.co/TMBXEtCl37

On #Batshitconstruction and the populist right. If we get rid of bullshit jobs, idiotic construction projects, & planned obsolescence we’re halfway to carbon neutrality already (and living better as a result) #greennewdeal https://t.co/3QdoRUOL2r
