I’m an anthropologist, sometimes I occupy things & such.

I see anarchism as something you do not an identity...

...so don’t call me the anarchist anthropologist

strangely contradictory line in NY Times on rise of right & left populism “in the US, the crisis [of 200] exposed an economy that had been a charade — one that most Americans didn’t understand or appreciate” – no, they were quite aware it was a charade https://t.co/HpxfxKkdmT

What do people do when pretending to work on their #bullshitjobs all day? Play computer games. And what do they do in those games? Increasingly, pretend to be doing real work https://t.co/ZeIbQbfbdh

Realize I wasn’t nearly clear enough. I was speaking of cowards. (Easy mistake to make I was thinking in an academic context where most people are cowards.)

I’d like to propose something I will call “the asshole paradox.” Often, the very fact someone publicly denounces someone as an asshole, or vindictive narcissist, or power abuser, shows they don’t believe it to be true. Or else they’d know better than to cross them.

So I’m getting old now. And capitalism is still here. I mean, yes, okay, it’s not in the best of shape. Definitely showing signs of stress. But so am I. So are you guys going to get your acts together to get rid of it now before i die in 30 years or so? C’mon. Please?

There’s some guy named @profdaveandress who seems to feel his time on twitter is best spent launching completely unprovoked personal attacks on fellow scholars he’s never met. He’s done two against me now. Ever wonder what motivates a guy like that? It’s really puzzling.

so who cares if we’re hated by our constituents? who cares if we spent 3 years trying to oust you? who cares if we led a campaign to falsely accuse you of racism & anti-semitism? We demand the right to have you be nice to us anyway! https://t.co/Sj2jSVLMJQ

you see here’s a perfect example of what the “adults in the room” are really about. After the hurricane, Trump said, we’ll have to “say goodbye” to Puerto Rico’s crippling & unfair debt. Apparently then someone must have, like, talked to him a little. https://t.co/IIS36xr1LP

I once described the wave of movements of 2011, from Egypt to NYC, as “the opening salvo in a wave of negotiations over the dissolution of the American Empire.” Clearly the Trump administration is wave 2.

growing list of ‘crazy’ things Trump wasn’t allowed to do by the “adults in the room”: * withdraw US troops from Afghanistan and S Korea * dismantle NATO * explore Medicare for all * restore Glass-Steigel * assassinate Assad * cancel Puerto Rico’s debt

Has anybody remarked that almost all of the “crazy” things Trump’s handlers boast they stopped him from doing are things that if he’d done them, would have been the only good things he’d have done as President?

Walking thru my neighborhood I keep noticing all the flats with empty bookcases. I of course can’t afford a place 1/4 big enough to fit my books. That’s what happens when you make your living by reading & writing books (and are not already rich.)

addition bonus question, who is the most famous living British person who was trained in accountancy?

the UK has 360k accountants, which is 1 out of every 10 accountants in the world, as many as all EU countries put together. Of the 33.4 million workers in the UK, 1 in 92 is an accountant. What are we thinking about this? https://t.co/IlXgQAEY64

interesting how this makes no mention of #hautalk but does cite the “hauleaks” documents that say there was a campaign of defamation against the editor. https://t.co/KAxlPriXYy

I have been arguing strenuously that Trump is really serious about dismantling the empire. It struck me as a weird reflection of the perversity of US politics that the fascist was the guy running as the peace candidate.

(I originally wrote “Bernstein”! You see a movie early in life I guess it carves grooves in your brain.)

Fascinating: Woodwrd book says Trump wanted to pull US troops out of Korea, Afghanistan, but his staff wouldn’t let him. “How many more deaths? How many more lost limbs? How much longer are we going to be there?” So who is actually running things? https://t.co/McHZpHrzta

It’s getting so bad _I_ almost feel I should join the Labour Party to express solidarity and I’m an anarchist who hates the very idea of leaders https://t.co/QpY11mxakg

so they’re fighting as dirty as they possibly can, and have managed to recruit some right-wing elements in the Jewish community to play along – in a way that profoundly endangers that community, but neither the Blairites or people like Sacks seem to particularly care
