@ataoastronaut 1. everyone does not torture (tho the US gov’t certainly does)
2. there is a question of scale; the Assad regime is clearly trying to move the bar, & this effects what other state actors feel they can do. Discounting this makes it easier for the US or Saudis to torture not harder
