@Joefranks72 viewers or listeners with the false impression that people like me are given a voice on such venues, that they’re fair-minded, so as to give the incessant smears against the left more plausibility 3/

@Joefranks72 to express radical views that specifically challenged any specific smear job on the left (i.e., that it’s just come out that the media attacks on Corbyn were largely based on a stitch-up) this would be entirely forbidden. As a result, my appearance would serve to leave 2/

@Joefranks72 actually that would be a good scenario, no, I think they just wanted me to go on and perform radicalism for Mayday, talk about workers’ struggles… I’m sure the individual journalist was sincere, but structurally, the question is why is he allowed to do that, but if I tried 1/

@mnovember2 every now and then it’s good these things happen, it helps filter out the wannabe cops from those actually interested in human liberation, or just intellectually curious.

@VanessaSpedding as a result I got abusive tweets from the reporter’s father, who seems to also be a media personality of some sort, telling me he’d burn all my books in the house, or somesuch because I was rude.

@VanessaSpedding well I told him I couldn’t in good conscience go on BBC – World Service or otherwise – to pretend they, as an institution, cared about activism on Mayday, & wouldn’t until they started covering the #LabourLeaks story.

@robbopalmer @URESG76 I never said a word about your son personally – but If you think a polite person would pretend the BBC has not become a state propaganda outlet to spare the feelings of those who work for it, well, I disagree.

@LindaHurrell they want to have left voices on to talk about Mayday so it will seem they’re even-handed so that their systematic political attacks on the left will seem more legitimate

@keirforpm @QWieke what are you talking about? that makes no sense. I said: if you think a “non-despondent” interviewee can change the way the editors frame stories, how are you proposing they do it?

@l_a_dunn @LamentablyAwake yes that’s it. I managed to get in 1. AS is being weaponised, 2. warning of Brexit food shortages won’t be convincing to people experiencing food shortages now, 3. the more useful your work the less they pay you. They all smiled & agreed then never invited me back.

@Joefranks72 I finally was forced to face up to the reality: they wanted the name of prominent intellectual lefties associated with them so their systematic attacks on the political left would be taken more seriously. We were being used. 2/

@Joefranks72 these venues only allow people like me on to legitimate themselves; i.e., the Guardian would systematically refuse to allow me to say anything about the Corbyn antisemitism charges, but simultaneously beg me to write about trivial matters like Black Friday 1/

@keirforpm @QWieke I see and how would a non-despondent person stop them from framing things the way they like? Wave a gun and demand to edit the film themselves?

@sweaterenlaine @dominicgarrett2 hilarious – really? He was a nice man. Was so sad when he died before his time.

@l_a_dunn @LamentablyAwake no that one wasn’t live, iirc. There was one after, on a panel, the friday afternoon News Week (???) show, which was live. BJ’s sister was on the panel. I was the only non-Tory.

@URESG76 yeah World Service isn’t nearly as bad, some real journalists do that, but he’s also on regular BBC News I think
