@hhpapazian once again: I was asking why someone assumed there was a market. Riot gear is not defensive. It’s for people on the attack.

@hhpapazian a capitalist who produced child-sized riot gear would logically be presuming a likely market for it. Who did he imagine would buy it and why? This was kind of my point (obviously)

@LoveHateFearEtc @Guy_McPherson @xychelsea @ggreenwald @JKBroadrick @ohmresistance Excuse me but … why do I want to imagine that?

@f_a_r_t_s perhaps I’ve been away too long and grow unfamiliar with standard US colloquial usage

@f_a_r_t_s precinct station. If the whole precinct went up in flames innocent people would be killed

@craigcaughran If I remember it went “first they came for the journalists. Then they might have come for someone else but I don’t really know who it was.”

@DTCochrane yes, if it weren’t for the suspicion of oral history in general, there, I’d assume there was some give-away mistake in the text that made people realise it was a fraud & they were covering for the guy. But I suspect it’s the exact opposite.

@schrisomalis ah, well, okay next time I’m in Hamilton Ontario, I’ll definitely check out Box 15

@DTCochrane there’s no space to discuss the matter at length but yes there does seem to be a real bias by scholars of North America, much unlike, say, Africa, or other parts of the world.

@inside_lemon It’s all timing. Have to wait till the Wengrow book is out before putting out another one …

@inside_lemon it’s an Afghan party hat. I asked the guys at the Afghan shop what it’s for and they said, just for fun. There’s a major party culture in Afghanistan. I asked so is that why you get the Taliban as an equal & opposite reaction? & he said, “it’s truer than you think.”

@TheDurtyTrowel @digital_digger @archaeojake @davidwengrow a piece as good as its title, which is saying a lot

@zorqq it’s kind of fun, in the same way as, say, knitting – yes it’s mostly repetitive, but has enough thought and creativity involved that it’s not drudgery.

@jakke172 @inside_lemon @andre_spicer I suspect the hostility comes from your initial claim that all the ideas in a 200+-page book full of ideas are already contained in a very short essay which isn’t even really on the same topic, unless you define that topic as “why jobs are bad”

@jakke172 @andre_spicer You think Bob Black invented and therefore should have some sort of proprietorship over being anti-work? Interesting.
